New York, New York (Big city of dreams)

I took these in and around Manhattan in the spring of 2001. Some I took just sitting on my friend's 5th floor fire escape at MacDougal and Bleeker streets in Greenwich Village.

1) MacDougal Street looking north towards Washington Square Park. Cold and rainy April Day so B&W phot seemed to fit.
2) Same view a few days later when it was sunny ans 20 degrees warmer. Color was more suited.
3) Intersection of Bleeker and MacDougal in the wee small hours of the morning.
4) The Flatiron Building at 5th Avenue and Broadway.

1) Pirate's Alley...next to St. Louis catherdral in Jackson Square...houses the Faulkner Bookstore
2) One of the famous type of crypts found in the "Cities of the dead"...New Orleans buries its dead above ground.
3) A statue at the French Market
4) A sax player at the edge of the Mississippi River downtown.
5) a swamp shack...not real Cajun stuff, but a recreation at the zoo swamp habitat.

3) A crowd of people on Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras 1998. This is my favorite picture...because it captures part of the essense of the city. Notice how no one seems to pay a guy in a deep sea diving suit wearing live fish any mind. You cannot be too eccentric there.

4) Wrought iron balconies in the Quarter
